Justin R. Bates is a PhD candidate in history and a religious educator and administrator with Seminaries & Institutes. His research explores the intersection of 19th-century Latter-day Saint history and collective memory, specifically the Brooklyn Saints’ role in early California’s development. A published author with the BYU Religious Studies Center and Religions, Justin’s work includes Nauvoo-era temple construction, Restoration theology, and teaching metacognitive approaches to history. He earned an MA in history from Liberty University and a BS in Management from Arizona State University. Justin lives in Arizona with his high school sweetheart, Alexis, and their five children.

He is available to travel for speaking engagements throughout the United States and abroad.
